Manifestation Mastery
The Law of Attraction & Conscious Creation
What Are the Different Types of Meditation Practice?
Author: pgrundy
If you have never meditated before, the prospect of learning the technique may seem exotic and daunting, but there is really no need to be afraid of anything. Meditation is simply a way of quieting one’s thoughts and opening oneself up to a more receptive way of being in the world. Most of the time we are in an active orientation that can even be aggressive: constantly thinking, doing, rushing around. Meditation is designed to quiet our thoughts, make us still and receptive, and connect us more with the ‘being’ side of our nature instead of the ‘doing’ side. While every religious tradition has its own forms of meditation practice, most kinds of meditation fall into one of four general categories: 1) Breathing-focused meditation, 2) mantra-focused meditation, 3) walking meditation, or 4) visualization. All of these types of meditation will quiet the mind and open one’s awareness, but you may well find that one or two are especially helpful to you depending on where you are in your personal journey. The only way to find out which technique works best for you is try them all out, and luckily, many, many wonderful books, tapes, CDs, DVDs, classes, workshops, and other kinds of teaching materials are readily available to help you get started. Author: pgrundy
Shakti Gawain is the author of the best-selling books Creative Visualization, Living in the Light, Path of Transformation, Creating True Prosperity, and Developing Intuition. Born September 30, 1948, she is the founder (with partner Marc Allen) of New World Library Publishing Company. At this writing, her books have sold over 10 million copies worldwide and have been translated into more than thirty languages. Shakti Gawain is a pioneer in the field of personal development using affirmations, visualization, and manifestation techniques. Her book Creative Visualization, first published over 25 years ago, is still a classic and a best-selling text on the fundamental elements of the Law of Attraction. Gawain teaches that human beings have four levels to their being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, and that full personal development touches on all four. One unique feature of Shakti Gawain’s teachings is that there is no such thing as a negative emotion, only changing emotions that are all part of an ongoing growth process, and all of which contain useful information about what is needed and what a person’s best direction might be. Shakti Gawain and her husband Jim Burns are both passionate environmentalists. Gawain teaches that personal development naturally leads to greater planetary harmony and a greater reverence for balance and health in all things.
