Manifestation Mastery

The Law of Attraction & Conscious Creation
08 7th, 2008

Often, the hardest part about getting what we want is knowing what we want. Most of us are so conditioned to focus on what we don’t want, that when faced with the opportunity to manifest our desires, we freeze up or draw a complete blank. One of the best ways to get ourselves to a place where we can learn what the Universe wants for us is to practice deep relaxation and meditation. Here’s one method:

Sit in a comfortable position in a room where you know you will not be disturbed for at least 10 minutes. Close your eyes and take ten deep breaths from your stomach. Your stomach should push out as far as possible on the in breath and then suck in as far as possible on the out breath. Do this slowly until you feel a rhythm. Then, consciously relax each body part, starting at your feet, and moving up to your head. Keep breathing deeply and rhythmically. When you are completely relaxed, ask the Universe (in your mind or out loud) what you need most, right now. Don’t worry about ‘who’ you are asking, just ask.

Take the first image or thought you receive in this state and hold onto it. When you have it clearly in your mind, open your eyes gently, stretch, and get up and write it down in as much detail as you can.

The Universe is abundant and wants you to ask for what you need and desire, but if you aren’t sure, you can also ask for help! Try it: I promise you’ll be quickly amazed at the results.

The Secret is No Secret

Have you heard about the best-selling book The Secret?

Have you ever wondered what secret the book is talking about?

The secret explained in the book The Secret is that each of us has the power to create our own reality and our own lives by visualizing what we want, thinking positive thoughts, and being grateful for everything that comes our way. If you think about it, this isn’t really new or secret: It’s basically what our parents and grandparents always told us to do. Look for the silver lining. Keep your chin up. Think positively. Have a dream. Believe your dream will come true. Have faith.

A new wave of books (like The Secret) are based on what has come to be called “The Law of Attraction.” They take old, common sense advice about positive thinking and setting desirable goals and give that advice a mystical, New Age spin. In these books, thinking positive thoughts and staying grateful becomes a new way of life, almost religious in its approach, complete with its own literature and its own New Age gurus.

I’m not saying this is a bad thing. Sometimes having a good teacher can make all the difference in the world when you are feeling stuck or confused. Sometimes, when people have become alienated from the faith of their ancestors, it helps to something new, simple, and upbeat to cling to. The Secret certainly fits that bill. But is The Secret really a secret?

The only real authority on that is you.
