For almost 20 years Jerry and Esther Hicks have been presenting workshops, producing tapes and writing books to help people create the life they desire. And desire is no small word in this agenda. Because this material is channeled, it often reads like The Power of Now or A Course in Miracles–not a fast food book to be devoured in one sitting. Rather, this is a book to be read in passages, with a soothing gestation period in between. It includes much advice on working with energy and emotions as well as specific chapters on increasing prosperity, reclaiming health, working with meditation, and clearing clutter for clarity. For those who are onboard with the “Laws of Attraction” and the “Art of Receiving” that Abraham speaks of, this could be one of those deliciously mysterious books that you can open to any page and it seems to offer the exact advice or insight you need right now.–Gail Hudson

5 Stars My LIFE is ASKING and Universe is GIVING
Asking is so many things and this book addresses them. How you think, speak, act, expect, and believe. Ester tells us in the simplest language just how to go about creating LIVES that harness our deepest DESIRES. This is a book to be read and enjoyed over and over again. I know that too many times I just don’t get it the first time or second or….Enjoy!

3 Stars with a grain of salt
As a literary work I give this book 2 stars. It’s super repetitive. So repetitive that while listening to the audio version I thought my Ipod was broken and skipping at one point! If I had read the book rather than listening to it while i did other things I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it, or even finished it.

The information contained in this book, however, is fabulous! 5 stars!

The reason why I give it 5 stars is that Esther and Jerry hicks are the first people that I know of that recognize when you are in a low place emotionally you need to take baby steps towards feeling better first in order to accomplish what you want. You can make those steps very quickly in the end, but you can’t get from one point to the other without experiencing the middle. If what you want is too far away from where you are you won’t have it right now, or even tommorow, but if you make the shift to the next level closer your goal will be closer to you.

This is a very practical point that most self help and self improvement books miss out on entirely, and in my opinion why they don’t work for most people. If what you want it seems too far away, you won’t allow yourself to have it!

Whether you believe in the Law Of Attraction or not, whether you believe in Abraham or not, you can gain something from this book. I’m still not sure if I believe in these things, but it doesn’t matter right now. I don’t really believe in magic, I don’t know that I will ever “manifest” anything!

The point is that while the information is presented in a way that seems way out of left field and new-age to most people, it is actually very practical and common sense. The creative visualization practices presented in “The Processes” will work for you if you approach them with an open mind and a goal of just feeling better.

So my advice, if you are interested in these ideas, than listen to the audio while you do your busy work. It definitely won’t hurt. If you combine it with more action oriented information (”Think and grow rich”) you will have a winning combination to achieve whatever you want in life.

3 Stars Thank You Abraham
Never have I read a work with so much repetition. It’s as if the goal of the first 21 chapters was to see how many different ways one could phrase the same thought.

Chapter 22 offered a fresh perspective that I have not encountered elsewhere.

To be fair to the work, perhaps my experience would have been better had I not read “The Secret” and “A New Earth” prior to reading this one.

I fully embrace the power of positive manifestation. And there are wonderful books on the subject. I don’t feel this one of the best, but I am pleased for all the readers who have been inspired by Abraham’s message.

4 Stars Thank you, Abraham for Shining Your Light thru Esther!
This refers to the CD edition of ASK AND IT IS GIVEN. I have absolutely NO criticism of the message, only of the delivery. Jerry needs to get out of the way and let Abraham speak thru Esther. Jerry rushes through the message with no attempt to connect with the listener. We hear him “reading” the words without “feeling” them, so his delivery lacks passion and conviction. But when Abraham speaks thru Esther, words come to life, spirit “plays” with the audience, involves us, wraps its arms around us, even scolds us lovingly, and we welcome the Living Word into our hearts. The entire message of Abraham is all about “feeling”, so the reader of the CD needs to convey emotion. If Esther can’t serve as the vessel of delivery, perhaps a professional reader should be hired. (I would be happy to offer my services in this regard, if Abraham concurred).
