Can Hypnosis Help Develop Your Intuition?

For many people, the term ‘hypnosis’ conjures mental images of flashy stage magicians putting willing subjects under a mysterious spell and then making those people do foolish things in front of an audience. While hypnotism is a technique that is often included in stage magic for entertainment purposes, there is really nothing all that mysterious about it. Hypnotism is a time-honored technique during which the subject is put into a state of deep relaxation by the hypnotist, and then a suggestion is made or question is asked depending on the purpose of the session. In a deeply relaxed state most people are able to access intuitive information they cannot summon while fully aware and alert. Similarly, when in a state of deep relaxation, most people are much more receptive to suggestion. So, for example, if a person is trying to stop smoking, a hypnotist might make the suggestion that the next time the subject craves a cigarette, he or she will go for a walk or drink a glass of water instead. Contrary to popular belief, no one can be made to do anything while under hypnosis that he or she would not be willing to do while fully alert. Hypnosis is sometimes used to help people retrieve information about crime scenes, and is also an powerful weight loss tool. Hypnosis can definitely help access and develop your intuitive abilities, and as long as a reputable professional is employed there is no reason to fear this technique.
